Red Ribbon Week!

Red Ribbon Week

The theme this year is “Life is a Movie, Film Drug Free”.

Saying “No to Drugs” is our students’ promise, but this year, we again ask families to take a more active role.  We cannot ignore what we hear about on the news daily.

I personally ask each family to take some time and talk about drugs, the dangers of vaping, and alcohol.  Acknowledgement by parents that drugs, vaping, and alcohol are in our society and community is the first step.  Talking with your child about avoiding situations and making good choices needs to begin in kindergarten.   Even at this early age, students are responsible for the choices that they make!  Each year, we as a community, must continue to stress the dangers of drugs, vaping, and alcohol in an age-appropriate manner.  As our children get older, the problem might be seen within their peer groups, but this is the time to learn and prevent!  We must be proactive and not reactive.

To help celebrate a ‘drug free’ week, we have many activities planned.  As always, the activities and dress days are optional!

Monday, October 28- November 1– As a family, help pledge the importance of recognizing that drugs are in our society and as a family, you will “Just Say No”.  During this time, help your child make a promise to stay drug free on the spotlight outline that I provided.  We want our Hahntown students to be the star in our drug free film.  Students can attach a picture or draw themselves, decorate the scene, and turn it into their classroom teacher on the back of this paper.  Please make sure your child’s name and room number are included.  Send the finished product to school beginning October 14th, and we will hang it around our pledge sign.
