Grade 3 Exploring Animal Adaptations

Leading into our next science topic, the third graders in Room 46 and Room 48 explored animal adaptations.  We experimented with ice water to test the coldness we felt with a finger covered in nothing verses a finger covered in a thick layer of petroleum jelly.  We made connections to how our exploration could help us understand how some animals have a thick layer of fat to help them keep warm in cold environments.
