Grade 4 Mad Science
The fourth-grade students participated in a workshop themed around electricity for their in-house field trip, sponsored by the PTA. They used balloons to experiment with static electricity. They tested different everyday objects using a plasma ball to see if they were a conductor or an insulator. And, using homemade circuits and a copper oxide solution, they changed an ordinary nickel into a copper color.
Part 2:
The fourth-grade students participated in a workshop themed around Space Travel. Students explored and experimented with rocket propulsion using the compressed air inside balloons. The class was also challenged to race balloon rockets, devise a balloon-powered rocket car, experiment with the fast-moving air produced by spinning propellers, and launch rockets at different targets using stomp-rockets powered by their foot.
